Conversion types (e.g. Length) are grouped one per "tab" in the conversion area. Each tab contains two lists, an input field and a result field. Information about the conversion type is displayed, if available, in a message area. This information is displayed based on the destination conversion A simple calculator is provided within CIH to allow for arithmetic operations to be performed on the converted values, or to allow the results of those operations to be converted. CIH provides currency conversions as well as unit conversions. The conversion values can be updated either from the Internet via the Update tab, or manually.  <a name="cih_conv"></a>Making Conversions To perform conversions: <UL> <LI> Select the appropriate tab (using the left and right arrows at the upper right hand side of the tabs to scroll if necessary). </LI> <LI> Select the "source" units from the upper list of units. </LI> <LI> Select the "destination" units from the lower list of units. </LI> <LI> Enter the value you want to convert in the edit area. </LI> </UL> Hint You can move values from the conversion area to the calculator by tapping the -> button, and move values from the calculator to the conversion area by tapping the <- button. You can change the order in which conversion tabs appear using the Tab Order tab. You can also use tabs with abbreviated names in order to fit more tabs on the screen, and select the tab CIH will go to when it starts. Both of these options can be set from the Settings tab. Your current tab, its input value and its current source and destination conversion types are saved between sessions. When you restart CIH, this tab will be in the forefront, unless you have set a default startup tab in Settings. The last source and destination conversion types you selected for each conversion tab are also saved between CIH sessions. Note Conversions are rounded to 4 decimal places of precision. If a conversion produces a result that is too small to display (i.e., less than 0.0000) the message # too small will be displayed. Try increasing the size of the From number until a valid result is displayed. If a conversion produces a result that is too large to display, the message # too large will be displayed. M- Subtracts the currently displayed number from the number in memory, and stores the result in memory. MR Recalls the number currently in memory. MC Clears any number currently stored in memory.  <a name="calc_xfer"></a>Transferring to/from Conversions You can transfer numbers from the calculator to the conversion input and transfer the conversion result to the calculator. Tap the -> button to transfer the result of a conversion to the calculator. The number is entered into the calculator in exactly the same manner as if it was entered by hand: For example: <DIV> 100 + -> </DIV> ...adds the conversion result to 100. Tap the <- button to transfer the number currently displayed in the calculator to the input of the conversion area. The selected conversion factor will immediately be applied.  <a name="cih_tabs"></a>Changing the Tab Order and Settings You can easily arrange conversion tabs in the order you most frequently use them. You can also use abbreviated tab names in order to display more tabs at once, and set a default startup tab. To change the tab order: <UL> <LI> Scroll the tabs to the Tab Order tab, and select it. </LI> <LI> Select a tab name in the list by tapping on it. </LI> <LI> Use the Up and Down buttons to move the tab name to the desired location. </LI> <LI> Tap Apply to put the new tab order into effect. </LI> </UL> To use/stop using abbreviated tab names: <UL> <LI> Scroll the tabs to the Settings tab, and select it. </LI> <LI> Tap the Use abbreviated tab names check box. </LI> <LI> Tap Apply to put the change into effect. </LI> </UL> To set the default startup tab: <UL> <LI> Scroll the tabs to the Settings tab, and select it. </LI> <LI> Select the default startup tab from the picker list. Select <None> if you want CIH to use the tab you were using when you closed the application as the startup tab. </LI> <LI> Tap Apply to put the change into effect. </LI> </UL> Notes The positions of the Update, Tab Order, Settings and About tabs cannot be changed. These tabs are also not abbreviated when using abbreviated tab names.  <a name="cih_inet"></a>Updating Currency Conversions Currency conversion values can be updated either online across the Internet, or manually either by copying the conversion file from your desktop PC or editing the file directly. Updating from the Internet From the Update tab, you can specify the location of the currency conversions file on the Internet, and perform an update by tapping on the Retrieve button. CIH is installed with a default URL referencing the location of the conversion file on the Burr Oak Software web site. This file is typically updated weekly. CIH will automatically connect to the web site specified, download the conversions file and update your CIH installation. You must have an Internet service configured on your Windows® CE system and you must select it in the Connection picker on the Update tab. Updating Manually You can also manually update the conversions file either by downloading it to your desktop PC and then moving it to your handheld system, or by editing it directly.
